I love Camp Doublecreek, I really do. I can shoot arrows, zipline, and swim, but then there's The Pit. The Pit is in the pool. It's the area where the floor of the pool dips down to 13 feet. People love swimming there, and even dare each other to touch the bottom, but I will never swim there again.

It was a nice day out, around 87, which was odd for a Texas summer. I always preferred cold to hot anyways. I don't remember the exact time, but I do remember the date: Thursday, July 18, 2013.

It was a swim period, so as normal I changed into my Tankini and went to the pool. It was Water-Slide Day, but nobody was at the water slide even though it was open. That was weird, considering that normally the line for the water-slide goes halfway down the 5 flights of stairs. They later closed the slide due to the lack of people, and I went to swim in The Pit. Normally there would be so many people swimming there that it would be a mosh pit, but I was alone, minus one other.

I kept swimming down and touching the bottom, but at some point I was on the wall, catching my breath when something grabbed my foot. I figured that it was my friend Hannah, because we dunk each other and pull each other under a lot. That's when I noticed she was in the 3 feet section. I took too long to get away, and it pulled me under. I never saw what it was, but after a minute or two of fighting, I blacked out. The next thing I knew, I was on the concrete in a puddle of water. I guess a lifeguard jumped in and saved me.

Now I will never swim in The Pit again.
