I see a video:

"7 Nation Army Music Video."

I decide to click on it, then run to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. When I come back, the video begins to play. But it's muted.

"Funny," I say to myself. "I could have sworn I had the volume up."

I turn the volume up all the way and listen to the song. I watch a few more videos. I run off to the bathroom to relieve myself. Coming back, I click on the next video, a recording of a Survival Games Minecraft server. The volume is muted again. This is odd, but I figure it's just a buggy YouTube page.

There's a video in the sidebar. You know the kind, the really stupid ones you always click anyway, the kind that take you to the "weird part of YouTube."

I click it. "Giant Three-Foot Spider Found in Kitchen Cabinet!"

The video goes black. The screen becomes easy to see reflections in. I can see behind me a pair of bloodshot eyes in a pale face with stringy white hair. The man behind me has huge ears, and he's covering them as if the sound is too much for him. I know who's been messing with the volume. I also know who's been making those thumping noises in my house at night. Who's been making me want to look over my shoulder. There's a silver glint of a knife in the reflection as the... the thing prepares to kill its loud prey.

I know who left my knife sharpener out this morning.
