This is a short message, that hasn't been said enough. Often times, new writers believe they must have the most groundbreaking, mind bending story to every be appreciated. That simply isn't true at all. Simple stories and plots always have a place in horror, and offer up a direct message and theme to the reader. For instance, this song, Juggernaut, from Dawn of Demise. Notice it is very simple, but tense. This is what a simple story can capture. Or this instrumental. Also very simple.
Simplicity can hold and contain the mind for the entire length of the pasta. Also, don't think you need 500 comments on your stories to be appreciated. We aren't here to get internet famous. A lot of people, if not most, are casual readers who might not even have an account. People will read your story, and people may get scared. That's the point. You don't need countless commentaries on youtube or global attention any more than you need a twisting super-plot.
Have fun writing!
