I was going to go on a rant about how the last few PotM winners haven't been (in my opinion) very good.  However, I've decided to instead simply try another outlet to at least get people to read a story currently up for that honor: The Long List by HumboldtLycanthrope.

Originally written for (and ultimately winning) Blacknumber's Freestyle Contest this story is an example of everything that a good horror short should be.   If you've read any of Humboldt's stuff, you'll know a bit about what to expect; he tends to deal with things in a strongly visceral way that actually make you feel something deep down in your gut.  His characters are ugly, and he presents them that way, warts and all.  They feel REAL.  I currently have two stories listed on my reader's page as recommended reading...Empy's A Small Piece of Lead (which won PotM a few months ago) and this one.  Cleric of Madness, father of the creepypasta wikia himself, gave this story a 10/10 in the comments section.  Seriously, go check.

Maybe you're not convinced.  That's fine.  I'm not asking you to vote for this story; I simply want you to read it before you cast your vote for whatever flavor of the week story is currently in the lead.  Because I truly believe if you do, you'll see that what I'm saying is true: this is a special story that absolutely deserves to be featured on the front page of this site.

Edit:  Woot!  Thanks to everyone who helped support Humboldt's awesome story to the front page!  You all made an excellent choice.  I'd highly recommend checking out the first runner up, Hands of a Living God, if you haven't yet...it is another awesome read.
