The lights flash
In hues of blues,
And reds,
And yellows,
And greens.
Joyous tunes
Float on the air
To my ears.
People chat.
Children laugh,
And scream.
Sound effects blare
As a teen wins a prize
For his lovely lady.
"You won, you won!"
Her cheerful giggle radiates up,
Up into the night sky.
A clown walks up,
His deep,
Hungry eyes glittering.
His white painted face
Hiding blemishes.
His blood-red lips
Curled into a smile
Over his pointy yellow teeth.
"Welcome," he says.
"To The Carnival."
