It happened again (Grandma Scam)

Years ago I wrote a blog about a scam in which con artists call people’s homes and pretend to be a grandson or other relative to try to trick them into giving money. Well, yesterday it happened again. Someone called my house pretending to be my nephew and asking for my mother. I was about to mow the lawn when the call came. The caller ID showed an “Unknown caller” display with an unfamiliar number with an unfamiliar area code. I answered and the caller said, “Hello, Grandma [My mom’s name]! It’s me!” Immediately warning sirens went off due to the fact that I had encountered this scam before, the voice was definitely not my nephew (my mother’s only grandchild), my actual nephew never called my mom “Grandma [Mom’s first name]”, and, o…

Creepy topic for a children's show

This is another simulcast blog in that I'm posting it on three different wikis. You know how people write "Lost Episode" pastas about children's shows? Don't worry, this isn't one of them. This is just to talk about something which shows that from time to time there actually is a bizarre episode of a children's show. Years ago there was a show called Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! that was meant for preschoolers, and an episode called "Everything's Coming Up Wubbzy" had loneliness, corrupt scientific experimentation, radical hypnotism, and the loss of identity. You think I'm kidding? Here's the wikia page for it- https://wubbzy.wikia.com/wiki/Everything%27s_Coming_Up_Wubbzy The plot is one of the characters makes a helmet that can make whoever we…

Throwback Thursday: Oddly Drawn Helicopter

Not too long ago our friend Icydice made a video roasting one of his old pastas. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but his video made me decide to roast a page from my very first comic book, more specifically the helicopter. This is page eight of SLJ#1 (Super League of Justice number 1) from the summer of 1996. I was thirteen years old and about to enter the eighth grade. Notice that in the first panel the helicopter looks pretty good. After that, I really don't have an answer. It just somehow becomes the helicopter equivalent of a clown car. I also don't have an answer for the second police officer's neck in the eighth and last panel (Ouch!). You gotta love how panel 5 has Super Creature popping up from the bottom like the…

Real ghosts captured (belated April Fools' Day joke)

You go on YouTube and there are all these videos which claim to catch actual ghosts on camera. I’m usually skeptical because a lot of things can be faked. However, I saw these videos and, wow, let me tell you, I really can’t deny the reality of what I saw. Take a look and judge for yourself.

The first one occurs during this video, with the part in question occurring from 2:35-3:11. The filmmaker is doing some urban exploring in an area apparently noted for sightings of a ghost. As he passes a power plant he sees something. At 2:43 you can hear him stop talking and then begin breathing heavily, almost crying, at the frightening specter he sees before him.

The second one is during this video, with the part in question occurring from 37:1…
