Out of curiosity, I searched "Creepypasta Wiki" into tumblr today and found a critique I thought I'd share. A user provided a screencap of a pasta, as well as the following insight:
"OKAY YOU LIL SHITS LOOK AT THIS CREEPYPASTA [author's name] WROTE
APPARENTLY THIS CONTAINS BAD GRAMMAR, POOR SPELLING AND STUFF YOU CAN SEE ON THE PIC AND THAT THIS PAGE IS FLAGGED TO BE EDITED OR IT’LL BE DELETED IN THREE DAYS
BUT AND THIS IS THE FUCKING RUDEST DICK MOVE I’VE EVER SEEN
THEY BANNED HER ACOUNT AND BLOCKED HER IP ADRESS BECAUSE OF THIS CREEPYPASTA WHICH CONTAINS BAD GRAMMAR AND SUCH
what i also want to add is that amnesys mother language isn’t english and that she could have atleast put a warning or something like that
BUT WHY WOULD YOU BAN SOMEONE’S ACCOUNT BECAUSE THEY’RE NOT GOOD AT SPELLING OR HAVEN’T LET SOMEONE BETA-READ THE TEXT??? LIKE YOU COULD HAVE TOLD HER THAT INSTEAD OF INSTANTLY BANNING HER?
she put much effort into this creepypasta, which is also her first creepypasta ever
THIS IS JUST
NOi can’t stand this shit no more"
This sort of criticism is welcomed; If one has a problem with our services, then that's understandable. Because the user provided the name of both the banned author AND their story, I thought I could find out what happened. When the Weird Girl pasta was uploaded to the site on the June 9th, 2013, it was in need of editing. Therefore, it was flagged for editing. Then, on the 10th, the author was blocked for one day because they didn't update the Article Listing pages (A common offense; People get banned for it all the time). This meant that the author could have edited their story in 2 days, or anyone in the community could of help fix it in 3 days. After 24 hours, the author's ban was lifted.
In the criticism, the user argues that her account was blocked because of poor grammar. As this might be the case for people that fail to meet the wiki's quality standards, the author was NOT banned for this reason. I repeat, they were banned for failing to list their story in our Article Listing pages, which EVERYONE must abide to. It's there in the Site Rules.
We also understand that some of our users are incapable of writing, perhaps even speaking, English. After all, English is a challenging language. If the author had contacted one of our admins and asked about their ban or how to improve their pasta, they would have received help. And they still can.
If your friend is feeling like they need help, then you must ask. This is why I'm responding to a complaint that was made two months ago.
That's all I have to say.
