Shows based off of YouTube channels have a simliar reputation to movies based off video games. From Breadwinners, to Fred, to Annoying Orange, clearly YouTube and TV are different mediums.

But perhaps TV channels are just looking at the wrong corners of YouTube for talent. What YouTube channels do you want to see as TV Shows? These are my top 3 picks:

  • Vsauce

What is it: An educational channel dedicated to answering scientific questions. Is anything real? What is dementia? Are we prepared for aliens?

Why should this be a show: This is one of the most insightful channels in YouTube history. With the accomplishments and cancellation of Cosmos, we certainly need an additional educational TV show. With deep answers to simple questions and Michael Stevens as an enjoyable host, this channel is network material.

  • AsapScience

What is it: Same as Vsauce, only with an addition of timelapses of hand-drawn pictures related to the topic being discussed.

Why should this be a show: The tone of the channel is upbeat, the drawings are well-done, and most importantly, the questions are answered in dept even if they're simple. Besides, this show has an advantage over Vsauce of being cheaper to make. While Vsauce videos sometimes have 3d demonstrations of what is being discussed, AsapScience's main visuals are merely timelapses of drawings being made with a marker on a board.

  • Element Animation

What is it: Although at first glance, it may seem like it is just a channel for minecraft animations, but it does other animations too, all of which fit into the genre of comedy.

Why should it be a show: The character designs are at near pixar-levels despite a tight budget, the animation is fluid, and the comedy is usually spot on. The benefits this would have for becoming a show would be network backing, which could lead to higher budgets, and by extension, longer animations. Extending the length would allow for deeper characters, which would mix in well with the witty humor.

So yeah, those are my top three picks. Agree with my list? What YouTube channel do you think would make a good TV show?
