Hey guys, Creeper50 here. Today, we are going to talk about an indie game I played, as well as a new genre of video games.
For those of you who haven't heard, this game is called Cibele. It was released back in 2015 for the PC. The game revolves around a growing romantic relationship between 2 online friends named Cibele and Ichi, or Nina and Blake in real life. They meet through a voice chat system in an MMO.
This game has been called into question about if it is really a game or not. Nina, the creator, in response to the critism said that she wants to make games about ordinary people. I can see why this game is more of an interactive movie than a video game. However, based on the rather rave reviews games like this game are getting, it is logical to predict to this trend will continue in the future. There have been a few games simliar to this one, like Her Story, where you look through archived videos to see what happened to a woman's husband. These types of games focus on characters rather than the world around them. These games currently, despite getting good reviews from critics, have been gaining a lot of back lash from gamers. However, it is likely that these games are going to expand the video game industry because these types of games are their own genre and since different genres appeal to different people, As a result, non-gamers who play these games may become gamers for life, thus increasing the size of the already large video game fan base.
So yeah, that's my thoughts on these types of games. Please say your thoughts on them in the comments. But for now, Creeper50 out.
