I was recently watching an episode of this neat YouTube series called This Exists. It digs up obscure pop culture oddities and presents them in video format. If you have the time, I highly reccomend you check it out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnc8DxbEb6rzOCk3vea8wrw.The most recent episode was about Britain's unintentionally eerie PSAs during the 1970s and 1980s. The episode made a passing reference to a 1973 short film called "The Spirit of Dark and Lonely Water." Something about it caught my eye, so I typed it into the YouTube search bar. Sure enough, it came up as the first result.
The video depicts a hooded man standing in the midle of a pond, saying to be "the spirit of dark and lonely water." I won't go into detail, as I want you to experience it for yourself.
Maybe I'm just a baby, but something about this video just rubbed me the wrong way. I know it was made to scare children, but it just creeped me out and I haven't stopped thinking about it since.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
