I'm in the middle of writing my first novel and I set a goal of 600 words a day for myself (as I have a very short attention span and have trouble sitting down for long periods of time). I stopped writing it a few weeks ago for multiple reasons: school, friends, and mostly just laziness. School recently has ended and I picked it up again with a need to finish writing it this time. The only problem with this is that I'm very behind on my daily word count quota. I want my novel to be at least 60,000 words and right now I'm at around 21,000. If I had followed my 600-words-a-day rule, I would be at around 46,000 today.

I just wanted some advice from fellow writers on how I should proceed. Should I puff my chest and write in hyper-drive mode so that I can catch up? Or should I just continue writing at 600 a day and not sweat it?

Thanks, Ameagle.
