  • Can you change the point of view in your story between different chapters? I know it is to remain static mid-sentence or paragraph, but I'm not sure if you can change it if your story is divided into multiple sections.

    • The purpose of the grammar guides is to help authors avoid common mistakes, not to restrict creativity.

In this case, the part about how you shouldn't be jumping perspectives is included due to the fact that a lot of new submissions to the wiki jump tense and/or narrative POV in a way that is clearly not intentional by the author because they wrote it in one draft, didn't proofread, and/or don't care enough to be consistent about such things. This is an extremely common error, and one that's difficult to correct since we often aren't sure which perspective the author intended to stick with, so thus it's highlighted in the guides.

So yes, you can switch perspectives between chapters as long as it is clear enough that it's intentional.

Game of Thrones does. However that is a novel, with each chapter the size of a typical creepypasta.
