Story
"SMASH THE WINDOWS!" Twilight shouted. The ponies turned around and aimed for the windows with their back hooves, but missed. It was too shaky to get a foothold.
"...It's no good, everypony!" AJ shouted. "That door won't budge! It's like something's holding it closed!"
"There's got to be someway out!" Rarity exclaimed. "Check everywhere!"
All the ponies ran around inside the house in a panic. Fluttershy remained in her place as she watched the arms complete their stretch, the cymbals ready to crash.
"THE CEILING!" One of the ponies shouted. Fluttershy didn't bother to find out which one this time. "IT'S CRACKING!"
Above the ponies, the ceiling was indeed starting to give away.
"WE'RE TRAPPED!" shouted another pony. Then they started to scream, for there were no more words to be said.
"Zecora..." Fluttershy muttered, tears filling her eyes. "Please! Find this toy and destroy it!"
*****
She braced for the end, clenching her eyes shut, for the ceiling to fall on her and crush her bones.
It never did. Nothing came. No pain, no bright light, nothing. Everything turned silent. Even her friends stopped screaming. "Was that it?" Fluttershy thought to herself. "Was that the end?"
Slowly....ever so slowly...she opened her eyes. She was still in her home...in the wheel chair...her friends hugging each other tightly. And as she looked down...she gasped.
The dragon hadn't clashed its symbols. In fact...its arms were still outstretched. The only difference was it's face. It...wasn't angry anymore. It was...neutral.
It's amber eyes were closed and it's mouth was completely straight as though it were sleeping.
Extremely confused by this, Fluttershy picked it up to examine it...and her heart leaped with joy as she saw something she believed was a miracle. The dragon's key...
It wound itself out.
Fluttershy let out a massive sigh of relief. The key was...well....the KEY all along. Demonic or not, the toy had to live by the world's rules. And the rule of a toy having a key was once it winds down, the toy stops.
Just as she pulled the key free from its hole, Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie slowly opened their eyes as well, their thoughts the same as Fluttershy's. "Wha...what happened?" Rainbow asked aloud, fright in her voice. "Are...we dead? Is this the afterlife?"
"I don't feel dead." Pinkie Pie retorted with a bit of her usual demeanor in her voice.
"Well how would you know if you feel or not if you're dead?" Rainbow shot back.
"Girls! I think we're alive!" Twilight butted in, causing slight cheers to erupt from the small group.
"WE'RE OK!" Rarity cheered amongst their cries.
Fluttershy however, was still holding the toy, being silent amongst the ponies. "Wait!" Applejack burst out. "Where's Fluttershy!?"
"She's over there!" Pointed out Pinkie.
The 5 ponies looked at Fluttershy and the toy, which was too synched with the ceiling to deny it was the cause, silently. "F-Fluttershy?" Twilight softly spoke up. "A-Are you OK?"
"Girls...there's something you have to know..." Fluttershy responded. "You see...when Pinkie gave me the dragon..." And thus she went into detail about how the dragon toy turned out to be a demon. How she watched it kill, how it worked, how she visited Zecora and talked to her about it, how Zecora said it was an evil demonic toy, the whole thing. Especially the reason why she was so mean to her friends in the first place.
"And that's what this toy has done to me..." She finished.
Her friends were speechless. "You mean...this...THING...almost killed us?" Twilight asked after the silence, prompting a nod from Fluttershy, who was shedding tears.
"It almost dropped your roof on us!" Rainbow cried in sudden anger.
"I know...but look....it stopped." She said, holding out the frozen toy.
"Hmm...why ever did it?" Rarity asked her.
"Cause its key wound down." Fluttershy explained, looking at the toy again.
"So...it's...just a normal toy again?" Pinkie questioned with her usual cheeriness back.
"No...it's still evil...but it won't clash it's cymbals again." The shy mare responded as she wheeled herself towards her kitchen, her friends tilting their heads at each other, but deciding to follow her.
"So...what are you going to do with it?" Applejack inquired Fluttershy as she approached her oven.
Fluttershy did not even look up at her. "What I wanted to do in the first place." She monotonously replied as she opened her oven, chucked the toy inside, slammed it shut, and turned the heat all the way up.
The whole room went silent as they all gathered around the oven and watched the evil, now normal, toy burn and melt into useless slag for the next hour.
Once it was done, Fluttershy grabbed an oven mitt opened the oven, grabbed it with her teeth and the mitt, and went to the back yard.
Applejack spoke up again as her friends followed her. "Where ya goin' now suga' cube?"
"To bury this thing where nopony will ever find it again." She solemnly told her as she guided herself towards the back of her property.
As they reached the line between the land Fluttershy "owned" and the rest of the land, Fluttershy pointed to a patch of dirt in the grass. "Can you girls dig a hole for me?" She asked her friends who followed her everywhere she went.
"Um...sure Fluttershy..." RD said, unsure of herself as she, Twilight, and Applejack began to dig a hole where the patch was. They dug a good 6 feet down before they stopped to inquire Fluttershy if 'it was deep enough'. When Fluttershy shook her head they continued down until it was 10 feet deep. When Fluttershy said it still wasn't deep enough, Twilight used her magic to scoop out dirt to 15 feet down below the surface.
"That's enough." Fluttershy finally said as she made her way over to the hole while her friends stepped back. She held the melted heap of metal that was once the tormenter of her life up to look at it one last time before she chucked it down the hole and began to push the dirt back in.
"Let us help Fluttershy." AJ said as her friends began to pile dirt over the hole, not just burying a horrible object, but horrible memories as well. Once it was finished, and the thing was buried, they all stepped back to look at the patch, silence taking over once again. Nothing was said for a long time.
The purple unicorn mare, Twilight Sparkle, was the first to break the silence. "Well...um...let's...go back inside." She proposed. Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash nodded awkwardly before they slowly made their way back inside. Pinkie Pie stood where she was however, as did Fluttershy, who stared at the patch of dirt. She felt she had to apologize.
"Um...Fluttershy?" Pinkie said in a cautious voice.
"Yes?" She replied in her usual voice.
Pinkie scratched the back of her head. "Look...I'm...sorry...I gave you that toy. I had...no idea it was...so evil. I didn't mean to put you through that. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me." She apologized.
Fluttershy paused, and Pinkie Pie was feeling awkward and was about to turn and go when the shy little yellow filly turned herself around and wheeled herself up to her pink, partying friend before she gave her a huge, heart felt hug. "It's ok Pinkie..." Fluttershy told her, tears falling down her face. "I don't blame you."
Pinkie, in response, slowly began to cry herself, wrapping her arms around her friend. "Just...promise me one thing," Fluttershy asked.
"Yes Fluttershy?"
"Don't accept any more free gifts from shady strangers." She told her.
Pinkie smiled. "Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." She pinkie promised.
Fluttershy looked into her eyes, blinked her tears away, then sat back in her chair. "Now...let's get to the party OK?" She said.
Pinkie put on a massive grin, her joyful sadness replaced with her usual joy. "OKIE DOKIE LOKIE~!" She exclaimed as she got behind Fluttershy and wheeled her inside.
"I love you guys so much..." Was the last thing Fluttershy said before they got back to their old ways, the nightmare dead and gone, never to be seen again.
