A shriek of terror and rage is let out as you smash the dreaded beast under your feet. You check the twitching remains latched onto the soles of your shoe. A spider. Normally, you would not be scared. But tonight's different. It's your first Halloween and you're on your way out of your house to begin your epic journey. You and your friends. You walk some distance before coming across a line of ants in your path. You wouldn't dare to smite them simply because they are insignificant? You would and you do so accordingly. Some of your friends scolded you while some urged you on. You're a king and you have a disarray of advisors. It's up to you to keep order. You immediately beat down the nearest. You demand silence as you ponder what obstacle you will face next. As you secure the vast treasures you demanded and received from the peasants, one by one lined up declaring you king, you suddenly have a feeling you have forgotten something. Your scepter. The symbol of your authority. You immediately remove the glistening coat that has been protecting you from summer's harsh winds as you dash back home.
When you finally arrive, you are out of breath but nonetheless pleased. Your scepter is laid against the fence. You have been enjoying your first Halloween night and you have your parents to thank. You knock on the door and declare, cry out even, "Mommy, Daddy, I'm home!". No answer. You immediately detect something's amiss but you're not one of those kids who cry but investigate. You turn the knob. It's dark inside, but you boldly enter. It takes your eyes to adjust to the darkness but you finally make out something. You wish you hadn't. You fumble for the light switch. You can't believe what you see. The room is a mess. But worst of all, your parents are gone.
You look around and eventually find a basement trap door under your living room carpet. It is surrounded by dust; it hasn't been opened in years. Despite it's heavy appearance, you manage to pry it open. There are dozens of cobwebs but they're no match for your scepter. You miss the loving embrace of your parents but you know your ultimate goal which you have now made known. "I have come to vanquish you" you declare. Your voice echoes surprisingly, almost as if this place is like a never ending cavern. In fact, it is, but you do not know so you venture into the deep. You walk unwaveringly. You observe carefully. You eventually stumble upon a well lit place. Torches give off a bluish green light glow as you come across the tortured skeletons of your chained parents.
You look around and you spot something in the distance. A cloaked figure no doubt. You charge after it. It looks back and shrieks. You lift up your scepter as you throw it, with absolute precision. It strikes him in the back and you kneel down and demand why. He tells you that he has led you to a breeding ground in service of his dark lord and that you only have three choices before the ground suddenly reveals a dark demeanor and a wicked laugh echoes. It consumes him and before fading away. A voice echoes, deriding him for his failure. Suddenly, a great earth shaking roar erupts through this chamber as skeletal beasts of all shapes and sizes rise from the ground. With a swing of your staff, they crumble. A pair of menacing red eyes appear and emnate a foul glow, causing despair and misery to wretch your aching heart.
You now turn your attention to this demonic foe as it approaches. It resembles a dragon. But it is a skeleton. It identifies itself as the executioner of this place. You quickly stab it in the forehead but it dissipates. You realize that you have been tricked but it's too late as it comes up from behind you, piercing you with it's massive claw. It insinuates that it is responsible for the death of your parents before revealing a multitude of undead human warriors at his service. It boasts "I killed these too and you will join them." You immediately mutter ancient words that you did not know. Immediately it shrieks, relinquishing you as it retreats back into the darkness. The chamber begins to collapse. You look around and you can barely make out a light. You run for it but you are again intercepted by the ancient creature. You avoid his lunge and run up the steps as the debris and rubble seals the exit. You get up and think you have won, but you have not for the monstrosity's claw pierces through the rocks and grabs your leg and pulls you in. You try to say something, but it's too late; darkness has enveloped you.
You wake up. You're lying on the cement, at the front door of your house. You apparently fell asleep on your long run home. Your mother and father welcome you in with smiling faces and hand you a cup of chocolate milk. You hug them and you walk through the door. You notice something dripping on you. You look up.
A fake skeleton popped out. Your parents laugh as they tell you they bought it while you were gone. So it turns out that they were indeed missing. Your experience was merely paranoia and a dream. Or so you think as you notice there is a small, barely noticeable tag on it. It reads:
