OC Category
- What is OC? OC stands for Original Content, meaning something YOU and YOU ALONE wrote. This is not something you found on the internet, but rather something you sat down and created on your own. This also includes pastas that you and 1 other person have colaborated on.
- If you wish to tell people that a page you uploaded is your own, then you must not only categorize it as OC, but list it on the User Submissions page. Failure to do both will result in your account being blocked from editing and your page deleted.
- Do not add the OC category to pages you did not create or write. This will be considered plagiarism and you will be blocked for 1 month.
- Do not add the OC category to pages you have not listed on the User Submissions page. Doing so will result in a ban from editing as stated in the Penalties section below.
User Submissions Page
To list yourself and your page, you first find the section that has the same letter as the first letter in your username. You then need to add your username in alphabetical order to that list by making a new heading (==UsernameGoesHere==) and list your pages below your name in bulleted list format.
- Do not add your username in if you have not written anything. There's no need to rush. That page isn't going anywhere.
- Do not add pages to which you have not added the OC category.
- Do not add pages that you did not create or write. This will be considered plagiarism.
- Do not write a message in your User Submissions secion.
US Category
The US category is something no one but ClericofMadness needs to add to pages. If you add this category to ANY page for ANY reason and are not ClericofMadness, you will be permanently banned from editing. There is no excuse valid that would excuse you from doing this. If you are just adding categories because you saw someone else do so, that's sheer ignorance. Read the category description before adding ANYTHING.
This category is used by Cleric to rebalance the OC category and remove pages that are marked as OC but are not listed on the Submissions page.
Penalties
- Failure to add OC-categorized page to the User Submissions page within 30 minutes of adding the OC category:
- 1st time: 1 day block from editing
- 2nd time: 2 day block from editing
- 3rd time: 4 day block from editing
- 4th time: 8 day block from editing
- 5th time: 16 day block from editing
- AND SO FORTH, DOUBLING EACH TIME
- Adding the US category to a page or pages
- Permanent block from editing.
Why Bother?
As of May 26th, 2012, a total of 22 hours were spent by Cleric and Cleric alone rebalancing the OC category so that only pages on the User Submissions were categorized as OC. I had to remove the OC category from 210+ pages and leave a message on each of those pages' talk page.
This is not the first time Cleric has had to do this, and probably the worst by far. These rules aim to raise awareness to this new and mounting problem, much the same as the Article Listing rules did.
The goal of this wiki is to present a well-organized library of scary and/or creepy tales. When the OC and User Submissions section is out of whack, it leads to problems with people editing otherwise OC pages that are unmarked and all manner of hurt feeling and disarray. Again, these rules are being put into place as a way to better maintain organization on this site.
