What are the Categories?

See that list below? Do NOT add a category to a page that is not on this list below. Doing so can and will lead to your account being blocked from editing. We are not like most wikis with thousands of pointless categories, most with one or two pages linked to them. The categories on this wiki are intended to be indicative of the main theme(s) of a story. See the appropriate section for how to suggest new categories.

The Categories

• Animals: Far from your cute, cuddle-worthy pets, these pastas involve animals.
• Beings: Pasta that involves some unknown being that isn't a cryptid.
• Computers and Internet: Pastas with elements of computer weirdness, like cursed files and programs or websites.
• Cryptids: A collection of scary cryptozoologically-related stories.
• Death: Pastas involving death or dying.
• Demon/Devil: These stories involve Satan or some of his minions.
• Disappearances: People going *poof*.
• Dismemberment: Sometimes, in pastas, people just go to pieces.
• Dreams/Sleep: For those pastas that involve getting a little shut-eye...and then possibly never waking up.
• Entities: The following categories are for various beings and entities.
  • Beings: Pastas that involves some unknown being that isn't a cryptid.
  • Cryptids: A collection of scary cryptozoologically-related stories.
  • Demon/Devil: These stories involve Satan or some of his minions.
  • Ghosts: How can you have a Creepypasta site without ghost stories?
  • Gods: Stories involving the interactions between gods and deities.
  • Monsters: Things that go bump in the night, but are neither beings nor demons/devils.

• Gods: Stories involving the interaction between Gods.
• Halloween: For the most horrifying time of the year, Halloween, when evil powers are at their strongest and the boundaries between the living and dead are at their weakest.
• History: Pastas about historic events.
  • Nazi: Don't heil these pastas, they involve the weirdness that was the Third Reich.
• HPL: Lovecraft's actual writings. Not to be confused with Lovecraftian, which draws inspiration from his works.
• Items/Objects: A breed of pasta that is centered around an item which is haunted, has a dark past, or causes horrible things to happen to people.
  • Books: Pastas that involve some manner of books that isn't a diary or a journal.
  • Diary/Journal: Pastas with a personal twist, meaning they involve someone's diary or journal.
• "Lost Episodes": These stories typically are geared towards revealing information about missing, lost, or otherwise previously unheard of episodes, movies, or other digital media through a special screening or meeting usually directed to a very small group of people, and even one person.
  • Spongebob: Are you ready, kids? No? TOO BAD.
• Lovecraftian: IA! IA! This kind of pasta fhtagn for you to read them.
• Memes: Pastas that are well cemented in 4chanian lore as a certified meme.
• Mental Illness: Pastas involving potentially insane people.
• Military: Like the ramblings of an insane vet, these stories are interesting, scary, and about the military in some way.
• Mirrors: These kinds of stories typically involve mirrors and their strange abilities.
• MLP: My Little Pony stories. If you don't like them, don't read them. This is for stories and not images.
• Monsters: Things that go bump in the night, but are neither beings nor demons/devils.
• Music: ♪~ For stories about music.
• Nature: Stuff be growin', yo. This is for pages about nature.
• NSFW: Pastas that you really wouldn't want to be caught reading.
• OC: Original Content.
• People: This category is about the interactions between only. Remember: just because a story has people doesn't mean it's about people.
• Photography: Pastas pertaining particularly to peculiar photos.
• Places: These pastas, usually told in the first-person perspective, delve into an out of the ordinary experience someone had at a certain place, usually local. These pastas can also recollect on the scary history that this place has had.
• Poetry: These stories are the bowtie pasta to the atypical spaghetti of prose pastas. These stories are poems.
• Reality: Creepypastas made to destroy a pretense about reality you had. This may be through telling you that something you thought never existed or happened on a regular basis does.
• Recipe: These are special rituals, designed to summon up a tasty treat. Real recipes only. We don't need anyone summoning Cthnoodles again.
• Ritual: All those pastas involving rituals.
  • Holders: They must never come together, for these are the original Holders series stories.
• Science Pastas: Everything from insane experiments to scientifically based mindfuckery, it's located here.
• Shock Ending: For the times when you just couldn't see the ending coming.
• Space: Pastas taking place or dealing with the Final Frontier, outer space.
• Suggested Reading: A good start for those who are new to Creepypasta. Admin-only.
  • Specific Authors:
    • AGB: Stories by Ambrose Bierce. Nothing matters.
    • EAP: Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore." Stories by Edgar Allan Poe go in here.
    • HPL: Lovecraft's actual writings. Not to be confused with Lovecraftian, which draws inspiration from his works.
    • Kafka: A category for the works of the late Franz Kafka.
    • REH: Stories by Robert E. Howard.
  • PotM: All Pasta of the Month winners go in here.
• Television: If you're looking for TV weirdness, this is your category. If a pasta is here, it's not a "Lost Episode".
• Theory: Looking at something from a different perspective.
• Troll Pasta: These are less horrible versions of Horrible Troll Pastas.
  • Horrible Troll Pasta: Have you ever come into contact with something so bad it's good? Click the link and you will.
• Videos: Pastas with videos in them. Even scarier than just reading them! If there is not a video on the page, it does not need this category. See Television for things about videos but not containing them.
• Video Games: Generally, these are stories about strange goings-on in video games.
  • PokéMon: The pastas involving the many multitudes of the all 646 'mons.
  • Zelda: Open this chest and you might find and actual piece of a heart. Scary stories involving the Legend of Zelda franchise.
• Weird: Stories that can't quite be categorized any other way.

Narrative Modes Categories

• First Person Narrative: Stories narrated in the first person.
  
• Second Person Narrative: Stories narrated in the second person.
  
• Third Person Narrative: Stories narrated in the third person.
  
• First Person NarrativeAmbiguous Narrative: Stories that utilize multiple narrative modes at once or whose narrative mode is otherwise unclear.

Special Categories

Most of these you should not need to add to a page. Only the categories Marked for Review and Unfinished Page should be added by a user that is not an admin. Adding categories with (ADMIN) beside them will get you a warning or a site block from editing depending on which, what kind of, and how many.

• Needs Editing: For pages that are neither good enough for a poll nor easy enough to be fixed by reviewing. These pages are poorly written and/or require a significant amount of time to fix. (ADMIN)
• Flagged for Deletion: Pages marked for deletion for various reasons. Vote on them to either keep/delete. (ADMIN)
• Marked for Review: Pages that need further editing/fixing.
• Meta: Important, site-related pages like the galleries or the listings. (ADMIN)
• Unfinished Page: PART TWO COMING SOON! (Do not remove unless the page is no longer unfinished)
• Site Rules: A listing of all the rules. Read, or beware. (ADMIN)
• Suggested Reading: A good start for those who are new to creepypasta. (ADMIN)
• Users: Umm... Duh?
• Admin: Admin team. Obey. (ADMIN)
• Chatmod: Chatmods. Obey. (ADMIN)
• US: This is the OC/User Submissions rebalancing category. ('ClericofMadness ONLY')

Categories Rules

1. Ghosts, Monsters, Demon/Devil, Beings, Gods, and Cryptids are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE categories. This means you can classify a page as Ghosts, but none of the others. Same goes for the rest.
2. If a page is a Horrible Troll Pasta, it may not be tagged as a Troll Pasta, and vice-versa.
3. Books category is not for Diaries/Journals. Nor are they to be listed as Items/Objects.
4. If a page is marked as "Lost Episodes" it's not to be tagged as Television.
5. Spongebob and "Lost Episodes" cannot be added together.
6. PokeMon and Zelda pastas are not to get the Video Games tag.
7. If a pasta is tagged as Nazi, it is not to go in History.
8. Ritual and Holders cannot be added together.
9. Holders pastas must be from the original series.
10. If a pasta is in Diary/Journal, it is not for First Person Narrative.
11. If a pasta is in Ritual or Holders, it is not for Second Person Narrative.
12. Pages with the OC category MUST be listed on the User Submissions page. Failure to do that within 30 minutes of adding the OC tag a total of THREE times will result in a three day ban.
13. The Videos category is for pages with videos or the default tag for videos. Do not add the Videos category to a page if it does not have one.
14. HPL is already in Lovecraftian and Suggested Reading, so the pages marked with this category do not need to be tagged with either of those. EAP is also already in Suggested Reading.
15. All Site Administration categories (excluding Marked for Review, Unfinished Page, and Users) can only be added or removed by administrators. Meaning they are ADMIN-ONLY. Weird is also an admin-only category.
16. Only ClericofMadness can add the US category to a page.

Suggesting New Categories

If you feel that a category you have in mind would be a useful addition to this site, leave a message on ClericofMadness's talk page with the name of the category, reason(s) why you feel it should be added, and a general idea/list of pages that would fit the category. Again, we are not a search engine and categories are not keywords.

Penalties for Adding New Categories OR Categories Violations

1. First time: Warning
2. Second time: 1 day/violation.
3. Third time: 1 week/violation.
4. Fourth time: 1 month/violation.
5. Fifth time: 3 months/violation.
6. Sixth time: 1 year/violation
7. Seventh time: Permanent ban from editing.

Removing/Adding an Admin-Only Category

1. Adding Suggested Reading to a page (not your own): 3 day ban.
2. Adding Suggested Reading to your own page: 1 week ban.
3. Adding Needs Editing to a page: Warning and then a 1 day ban for each time thereafter. (Use Marked for Review.)
4. Removing Needs Editing from a page that is not fixed: Warning and/or 3 day ban.
5. Removing Needs Editing from your own page without fixing anything: Warning, then 3 days ban.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED FOR ONE TYPE OF CATEGORIES-RELATED OFFENSE, WE WILL EXPECT THAT YOU HAVE READ ALL THE RELEVANT RULES ABOUT CATEGORIES AND SHOULD KNOW BETTER FROM THEN ON.

Adding Suggested Reading to your own pages gets you an automatic week ban on top of anything else you have have accrued. 

Galleries, Blogs and User Pages

Galleries are not articles. Blogs are not articles. User pages are not articles. Do not add categories to galleries that are not Meta (Admin-only). Do not add categories to blogs (other than the default one that is automatically published with each new blog). Do not add categories to User pages other than Users.

If you add categories to a blog or a user page, you will be blocked in the same manner as if you were creating new categories or violating categories rules.

Disclaimer

In the event you write, upload, or transmit via any means a story, page, blog post, or article about a subject matter that is determined, at an admin's/VCROC member's discretion, to be 1) in a highly clichéd genre/category/subject and 2) the content thereof is found to be poorly written, clichéd, or terrible in general, then the admin /VCROC member's is free at their discretion and leisure to delete the page at any time without warning or recourse on their part.
