There's an old saying that people have said to help people deal with nightmares.

"If you have a series of nightmares, put a pair of scissors under you pillow. That will get rid of the nightmare."

But it won't. Nothing will help you from the thing that seeps from reality into your mind. The thing that stands there, hiding in every shadow. It hides in shadows when the light is on, and is invisible to you in the dark. It lurks until you fall asleep, and when you do, it constantly enters your mind to torment you in its kingdom.

Don't even bother with those silly scissors. Because, even though it has true powers in your sleep, the creature still has some influence over reality. Those scissors won't get rid of it.

They'll just give it a weapon for it to use on you.
