You've probably heard of Mary Had a Little Lamb. But you have no idea where or how it originated, do you?

No, you don't. So, I'm here to tell you.

A long time ago, back in the 1800's, a girl named Mariane Rose, or Mary for short, was walking to her home. She wasn't very talkative, but she had things to say if she ever needed to.

Mary loved animals. No, not like you love dogs and cats. She loved to kill animals.

Torture and brutality were her two main goals. She was, in a word, insane. She went to the woods to hang animal heads to dry so she could play with them. She was a terrible person, but that is not where this story is going. This story, tells about this girl, Mary, and her lamb.

One day, when Mary was grabbing knives to go out and torture helpless animals, she heard a strange, strange noise.

She grabbed a candle, lit it, and walked outside. It was very dark out, but the candle provided just enough light to see that it was a lamb. This lamb, though, was not regular. When she tried to grab it, it attacked her. She was very, very frustrated at this lamb and went to get her dead father's rifle.

She shot the lamb, and managed to somehow puncture the stomach.

"Sad," said Mary. "I won't get to slowly kill this one."

She grabbed the lamb by the legs, and went to hide it. Of course, she didn't want to get in trouble, so she tied a chain to its neck and was dragging it to the lake, when she felt a sharp pain in her back. She whirled around to see a man with a rifle, shouting, "You little shit, you killed my property! Go to HELL!"

The man shot again, and this time he hit Mary in the head, killing her instantly.

Three weeks later, the man had his lamb stuffed and hung its head on the wall. He was not proud of this, but he was not a wasteful person.

"Well, what about Mary?" You are probably asking me.

What happened to Mary? She was stuffed, too. This man, as I said, was not wasteful.

He turned her head into a puppet, and every night before sleep, he used it to sing to his dead lamb,

"Mary had you, little lamb, little lamb, little lamb,

Mary had you little lamb, but now Mary is dead."

This was later concealed, as people turned the song into a happier one, in order for it to be more comforting to young children.

Mary had a little lamb; its fleece was white as snow.
